PDN STAFF HIGHLIGHT

Laura Marquez is the Developmental Disabilities Policy Fellow at PDN Children’s. The DD Fellowship is a project funded by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities aimed at offering opportunities for professionals interested in non-profit leadership to enhance their knowledge and expertise in policy and Disability-related issues through mentorship and training. As the DD Fellow, Laura will also work on ways to promote civic participation and representation of individuals with disabilities from culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse backgrounds in state-wide policy discussions. Laura was born and raised in El Paso and is a proud Alumna of UTEP from which she holds degrees in both Bachelor and Master of Social Work. Laura has worked in multiple capacities serving children with disabilities and their families for over 10 years and is a passionate advocate/ally for inclusion and equity for people with disabilities.

In partnership with Region 19, PdN Children’s is incredibly excited to launch our #ReadingWithPurpose video series. We are a nonprofit organization based in El Paso, TX, that serves and advocates for children with disabilities and their families since 1948.

As our kids are limited in their ability to interact with others at this time, the value of educating our future generations about inclusivity is critical.
